There are thousands of medical journals published all over the
world. While some are better known or respected than others, it’s
common knowledge that these are helpful and informative sources of
information for physicians. It may be surprising to know, then, that
nursing journals are also published all over the world, and there are
also thousands of titles available. These pieces of knowledge are
invaluable tools and resources for all nurses, whether they are in a
specialty field or just a general practicing nurse. Nursing journals
can cover a wide variety of topics from new advances in medicine to new
practices and ethical standards of nursing. Many of these nursing
journals can be read online, allowing faster and easier access for the
busy nurse to be able to read them. Many nursing journals are packed
with comprehensive, up to date information pertaining to the world of
health care and nursing, and display results of studies as well as
feature important papers and findings from nurses and doctors.

The
American Journal of Nursing is the most widely read of all nursing
journals. This journal features expert advise, legal issues, and
current trends, as well as all of the new developments in clinical
trials, medicine, and nursing ethics. Of course, there are so many
journals to choose from, it can be overwhelming at times. Fortunately,
many smaller nursing journals choose to focus on one specific aspect of
the job versus a broad spectrum. For example, there are nursing
journals on holistic medicine, cancer, and dealing with children, just
to name a few. Each country has its own nursing journals, and this can
be helpful for those studying or moving abroad. They can help to ease
the transition and open nurses’ eyes to how the job is handled in other
nations as well.
